TEAM STATEMENT

To us this story isn't an escape into fantasy, but one that tries to make sense of a world both beautiful and terrifying. Pablito is forced out of his home in an ICE raid, and at the same time his mom's love and story can make the impossible happen. grappling with this duality is something all of us deal with, but speaking directly to the inner child of our audience gives this story cathartic healing power.

we make art and tell stories to make sense of the senseless. as a group of filmmakers we have a genuine belief in the power of magic as a way of keeping faith. Hope requires that we don't give into the nihilism and protecting the magic in us requires belief in something that will always ring true. as people and as a society in our darkest hour we believe we can get through anything.

no matter how old we are we can always suspend our disbelief as grandma tells us a story, because somewhere in us we have pieces of Pablito.
